Our Story

Challenge

A local, parent-driven community group, the Community Concerns for the Medically Fragile (CCMF) offers financial and emotional support to families that have a member with special needs. Its facility, Standing Oaks, gives respite care for parental relief and helps to optimize the quality of life for the medically fragile.

In 2013, the facility was badly in need of a new van for the transportation of its residents. The van it had been using was nearly 18 years old. It often broke down and didn’t have proper equipment for wheelchairs and other medical equipment that the residents needed.

Solution

After visiting Standing Oaks residence, The Judith & Norman Alix Foundation recognized the group’s need and donated $60,000.
